Curso Básico de Seguros Agrarios
Offered By: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid via Miríadax
Course Description
Overview
The course is structured in 6 modules and each in 5 lessons. Issues such as the importance of risk management in agriculture and the role of agricultural insurance to cover these risks are introduced. The specific characteristics of agricultural insurance are analyzed, compared to other types of insurance and the problems arising from the existence of asymmetric information between insured and insurer. Risk-based insurance covering, climate nature or market, or the way of writing a review of damage other types of insurance are defined, each having its advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, the implementation of an insurance scheme needs to develop a regulatory framework that creates confidence in the implementation of contracts. In many cases, the development of agricultural insurance systems requires public support to meet international commitments. This has led to many existing insurance systems in many countries. Of these, the Spanish system is analyzed in more detail.
