Overview

  • Module 1: Migrating an ASP.NET application from on-premises to Azure, along with a supporting Azure SQL database, can provide many advantages, but also challenges. Learn how to evaluate the migration process to determine if it’s right for your application.
  • After completing this module, you'll be able to:

    • Assess application migration considerations.
    • Determine which tools can help evaluate existing infrastructure.
    • Evaluate key findings to plan a migration.
    • Decide if migration is the right choice.
  • Module 2: Create a website using C#, Java, Python or Node.js and deploy it through the hosted web app platform in Azure App Service.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Use the Azure portal to create an Azure App Service web app
    • Use developer tools to create the code for a starter web application
    • Deploy your code to Azure App Service
  • Module 3: Find out what makes Azure SQL Database a good choice for your relational database, how to create the database from the portal and connect with Azure Cloud Shell.
  • In this module, you will learn:

    • Why Azure SQL Database is a good choice for running your relational database
    • What configuration and pricing options are available for your Azure SQL database
    • How to create an Azure SQL database from the portal
    • How to use Azure Cloud Shell to connect to your Azure SQL database, add a table, and work with data
  • Module 4: Use the Azure App Service Migration Assistant to assess the readiness of a web app to be deployed on App Service, and perform the migration.
  • By the end of this module, you will be able to:

    • Identify the kinds of issues that you might face when migrating an application hosted on Internet Information Services (IIS) to Azure App Service.
    • Assess the migration readiness of an on-premises web application with the Azure App Service Migration Assistant.
    • Use the Migration Assistant to migrate an on-premises web application to Azure App Service.
  • Module 5: Plan and implement the migration of relational data from SQL Server to Azure SQL Database. Select the appropriate migration strategy for your database, and then use Data Migration Assistant to do the assessment and the migration.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Select a migration strategy for your relational data stored in SQL Server
    • Perform a migration from SQL Server to a single Azure SQL database by using the process of migration with downtime
  • Module 6: Azure Pipelines help automate building, deploying, and maintaining your applications. While they support a wide range of platforms and programming languages, in this module you’ll focus on using them to implement ASP.NET apps on Azure App Service Web Apps with Azure SQL Database as their data store.
  • After completing this module, you'll be able to:

    • Provide an overview of App Services and Azure SQL Database.
    • Describe core components of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
    • Describe the automated deployment process of App Services and Azure SQL Database.
    • Build and deploy data-driven ASP.NET web apps into Azure by using Azure Pipelines.
