Overview

  • Module 1: This module is a no-code introduction to PostgreSQL on Azure, including an explanation of particular problems that using Azure Database for PostgreSQL can solve. At a high level, we show how the components fit together and identify situations where you should use Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

    • In this module, you will:

    • Describe the components of Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
    • Identify situations when to use Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
  • Module 2: Azure Database for PostgreSQL is a fully managed relational database solution. Learn how - and when - to use it. You’ll review different configurations and features, create and develop a database, and query it from an ASP.NET app.

    • In this module, you will:

    • Create an Azure Database for PostgreSQL instance using the Azure portal
    • Develop and query the database in the Azure Cloud Shell using pgsql
    • Query the PostgreSQL database from an ASP.NET app
  • Module 3: When your database is small, it’s easy to throw more hardware at the problem and scale up. As these tables grow, you need to think about other ways to scale your database. Azure Database for PostgreSQL Hyperscale (Citus) transforms open-source PostgreSQL into a distributed database solution, reliably and securely managed on Azure.

    • In this module, you will:

    • Create a Hyperscale instance of Azure Database for PostgreSQL
    • Automatically shard and distribute tables in Hyperscale
    • Scale and rebalance a Hyperscale database without downtime
