Dartmouth Health Continuing Education for Professionals Home, Medicine Grand Rounds - Updates in Polycystic Kidney Disease, 3/12/2021 8:00:00 AM - 3/12/2024 9:00:00 AM, Participants in Medicine Grand Rounds will be able to identify the most current treatment guidelines, innovations, and standards of practice, and apply them to improve the care of individual patients, promote health and wellness in the population, and achieve clinical quality and safety goals. These educational activities are grounded in principles of health equity, evidence based medicine, inter-professional teamwork, patient-centered care, and respect for human dignity.

About our Presenter
Dr. Cristian Riella completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Tufts School of Medicine, and his Nephrology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Riella’s research focuses on genetic causes of kidney diseases, particularly polycystic kidney disease and Apolipoprotein L1 nephropathy. He is also investigating how RNA editing modulates gene expression in kidney disease via innate immune activation and is involved in clinical trials testing novel therapies for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney diseases.
Learning Outcome(s)
Participants will be able to discuss the management of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease, including indications for genetic testing and non-renal complications, and review the disease modifying therapies and lifestyle changes that can help control cyst growth and slow the progression of disease.
