Course Description
Overview
This online management skills program is for people in or aspiring to management roles. Through the program you will learn how to understand and support people in the workplace so they are able to be productive members of the organisation.
The program is made up of four courses which explore the different skills required to be a successful manager. You will consider subjects including job satisfaction, teamwork, diversity and maintaining an organisational culture.
You should leave the program more confident in your management abilities and able to apply your learning to your workplace.
Syllabus
Course 1: Managing People: Understanding Individual Differences
-Understand how personalities and individual differences affect the performance of individuals in the workplace.
Course 2: Managing People: Connecting Motivation and Performance
-Grow your management skills by exploring the connections between motivation, job satisfaction, wellbeing and performance.
Course 3: Managing People: Teamwork and Diversity
-Learn about team structure, how teams work, performance management and diversity in the workplace.
Course 4: Managing People: Understanding Your Organisational Culture
-Explore the concept of organisational culture and learn its practical implications.
Courses

Explore the link between individual behaviour and organisational success
Individual personalities and behaviour can have a significant impact on a business. On this course you will develop your understanding of personality and individual differences and how adults learn. You will consider what affects individual performance and how this relates to the success of your organisation. Through the course you will also keep a learning journal to help you apply your learning in your workplace.
This course is for entry level managers with no formal management education. You don’t need any knowledge of management theory.

Understand the psychology of job satisfaction to improve motivation at work
What are the connections between attitudes, motivation, job satisfaction, wellbeing, stress and performance at work?
On this course, you’ll explore humanist ideas of management that emphasise the importance of motivations.
You’ll consider the effects of stress as you develop an understanding of stress models. You’ll reflect on what contributes to stress in the workplace and evaluate the value of stress management interventions.
You’ll finish the course feeling able (and motivated!) to apply your learning to your own management practice.
This course is for entry level managers with no formal management education. You don’t need any knowledge of management theory.

Understand how teams work and the importance of a diverse workplace
Almost every modern workplace relies on some level of teamwork. Understanding how teams work, and why they fail is vital for any manager. On this course you will consider how teams are composed, why diverse teams (and workplaces) are so important, and how to address poor teamwork.
You will also consider the best practices for team working: examining the theory behind teamwork including social aspects of teams and how to resolve issues. You will also consider the processes that help ensure organisations hire the right people and maintain productivity.
This course is for entry level managers with no formal management education. You don’t need any knowledge of management theory.

Get to grips with organisational culture
Through this course you will learn about organisational culture by examining its theoretical background and real-world implications.
You will consider the effect of organisational culture on decision-making, social relations and managing people particularly in multicultural organisational contexts. You will evaluate assumptions about the topic through reflective exercises and deepen your understanding as your share your experience with other learners. You will also reflect on your own experience of organisational culture and how your learning can be applied to your own management practice.
This course is for entry level managers with no formal management education. You don’t need any knowledge of management theory.
