Overview
This is a perfect course for anyone looking to learn the basics of Western music theory.
You will learn to read and write western music notation through simple and easy to follow interactive lessons, and improve your ability to recognise pitch and rhythms by ear through carefully crafted exercises.
By the end of this course, you will develop a solid foundation in western music theory fundamentals and be ready to begin advanced music studies.
Syllabus
- Introduction to Written Music Notation
- You will familiarize with written music notation by learning to identify notes on Treble and Bass clefs. You will also learn to identify note names on a piano keyboard and learn to write music using an online notation software.
- Musical Intervals & the Major Scale
- This session will teach you the concept of intervals, simply put the distance between two notes.
- Time & Rhythm
- This session will help you understand the concept time within the context of music and how rhythm works for written and aural music.
