Course Description
Overview
Comer Children’s Hospital is a safe place to give and receive care, and this activity will provide additional skills to participants to de-escalate and manage challenging situations that may present themselves to ensure Comer remains safe and welcoming for everyone.
Syllabus
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe how to work effectively as a team when managing patient agitation;
- Identify strategies to feel safe and capable when managing patient agitation;
- State how to reduce emotional distress and physical harm during patient car transfer;
- Recall ways to ensure patients feel safe, respected, and calm as well as experience less anger and frustration;
- List alternatives to physical restraint;
- State how Policy PC-260: Behavioral Health Services protects patients, clinicians, and staff;
- Review Code Green, PACT, and the Pilot program and how to use them.
