Overview Patients who undergo certain medical procedures may experience acute pain. Safe and effective treatment is essential in ensuring functional recovery, quality of life and decreased risk of persistent post procedure pain. This course will provide practical resources and tools to assist in managing postoperative acute pain.

Syllabus

After participating in this activity, the learner should be better able to: 

  1. Calculate morphine milligram equivalents (MME) in order to prescribe safer dosages of opioids.
  2. Identify high risk patients and prescribe naloxone to these patients to prevent risk of overdose death.
  3. Identify non-opioid therapeutic options for acute pain management.
