Course Description

Overview

The Capstone course has two overarching goals - after you actively engage in the learning experiences in this module, you will be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of concepts, theories, and approaches learned in the IBFO specialization courses.
2. Apply IBFO course related tools, techniques and approaches to realistic business situations in support of problem solving and decision making.

The Capstone course includes four modules with assignments based on a fictitious dental implant case. Each module provides additional case detail and the background documents and data needed to complete the assignments. Assignments include both multiple choice quizzes and peer review assessments. As you go through the following modules, you will learn more about Sorriso and have the opportunity to apply your learning from the IBFO specialization in support of practical business needs.


Syllabus

Capstone Course Overview and Case Introduction
This Capstone course includes four modules with assignments based on a fictitious dental implant case. Each module provides additional case detail and the background documents and data needed to complete the assignments. Assignments include both multiple choice quizzes and peer review assessments. As you go through the four modules, you will learn more about the case and the company, and will have the opportunity to apply your learning from the IBFO specialization in support of practical business needs.

Module 1 - The Current State
In this module you will become familiar with the operations and challenges currently faced by Sorriso and apply what you have learned during completion of the IBFO specialization in two related assignments.

Module 2 - A Lean Sigma Intervention
In this module you will analyze and predict the impacts of changes that have been made as the result of improvements and a new product introduction applying what you have learned during completion of the IBFO specialization in two assignments.

Module 3 - Preparing for Increased Production
In this module you will analyze an investment decision using multiple indices and consider the impacts on cash flow and possible borrowing based on staff expansion applying what you have learned during completion of the IBFO specialization in two related assignments.

Module 4 - Time to Sell?
In this module you will consider the process of company valuation and investment applying what you have learned during completion of the IBFO specialization in a related assignment.
