How to Speed Up Your AWS Lambda Functions
Offered By: Amazon Web Services via AWS Skill Builder
Course Description
Overview
It is time to dive deep in AWS Lambda. You, as a Senior Engineer, need to improve AWS Lambda responses times for your serverless application. In this lab you are going to finally understand concurrency, functions size, cold start and how to achieve the best results using AWS Lambda functions.
Level
Advanced
Duration
1 Hour 0 Minutes
Course objectives
In this course, you will learn how to:
• Deploy a Lambda function using AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM).
• Observe the performance characteristics of the Lambda function to determine possible performance enhancements.
• Adjust the memory size limit of a Lambda function to optimize performance.
• Apply your knowledge of the Lambda function lifecycle to determine steps to optimize the function.
• Configure provisioned concurrency and reserved concurrency on a Lambda function.
• Use provisioned and reserved concurrency to optimize Lambda function performance.
Intended audience
This course is intended for:
• Developers responsible for designing computer or mobile applications.
Prerequisites
We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:
• Access to a computer with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux (Ubuntu, SuSE, or Red Hat)
• A modern internet browser such as Chrome or Firefox
Course outline
Task 1: Set up your environment
Task 2: Run an initial Locust load test against your application and observe performance metrics
Task 3: Adjust the memory size of your Lambda function and redeploy
