Course Description

Overview

Register right the first time.

Presented by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), this two-week course gives detailed guidance on registering your charity right the first time.

If you’re thinking of starting a charity, want to find out more about the legal requirements of doing so, or need to adjust your current registration, you’ll find this course invaluable.

Learn the key requirements for becoming a registered charity

On this course, you’ll get a detailed look at all the requirements a charity needs to meet to qualify for ACNC registration, as well as common issues that could prevent registration.

You’ll also learn about the 14 charity subtypes so you can assess which best fit your organisation, improving your chances of a successful registration application even more.

Understand your charity’s legal requirements and possible tax concessions and benefits

You’ll get the chance to examine the legal requirements for governing documents and experiment with model templates.

Being registered as a charity means access to tax concessions and benefits. You’ll be able to investigate tax concessions and other benefits that your organisation might be entitled to.

Learn about the ACNC from the ACNC

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is the national regulator of charities. They register and regulate Australia’s many charities and help charities understand and meet their obligations through information, advice, and guidance. They also help the public understand the work of the not-for-profit sector and provide a free searchable register of Australian registered charities.

Their staff are experts in their fields and up-to-date with current and emerging trends in charity law and the charity sector.

This course is designed for anyone trying to register their charity for the first time, and for anyone with a registered charity that has changed direction and needs to update its official documents.
