As healthcare systems around the world grapple with an unprecedented strain on resources and equipment, health economics and health technology assessment is in the spotlight like never before – and is certain to be a burgeoning field of employment in years to come.

Being able to fully understand the different factors behind the economics of healthcare – and how technology can affect clinical outcomes – is crucial to managing or participating in large-scale healthcare projects or organisations. Course 1: Welcome to Introduction to Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment
-This week will introduce you to the University of Glasgow and the key topics of this micro-credential.

Course 2: What is Health Economics?
-Key concepts of health economics, explores mechanisms of the healthcare market and challenges to the global healthcare system.

Course 3: What is Health Technology Assessment?
-Explores the current landscape of Health Technology Assessment globally and introduces key concepts, processes and methods.

Course 4: The Health Minister’s Dilemma
-Applying critical understanding from previous weeks to case studies in high and low/middle income country settings.

Course 5: Exploring the Relationship Between Health Economics (HE) and Health Technology Assessment (HTA)
-Recap of the key learning for this course; reflecting on difference between HE and HTA; introducing the assessment.
