ABC of Flight Mechanics: How Do Planes Fly?
Offered By: ISAE-SUPAERO via FutureLearn
Course Description
Overview
Discover how planes fly
How do planes take off? How do they fly? How do pilots maintain control of them? And how high do aeroplanes fly?
Get answer to all these questions and more with this course exploring the basics of flying and flight mechanics. You will learn how the laws of physics apply to airplanes and discover important concepts in aviation including: lift, drag and propulsion, and longitudinal stability. You will also learn how to calculate a climb gradient or take-off distances.
You will leave the course with a better understanding of how planes work, and the basics of flights mechanics.
This course is for anybody interested in learning more about how aeroplanes work, the physics of flying or flight mechanics. It will be of particular interest to undergraduate students in aerospace engineering, trainee as well as senior pilots, journalists, and professionals in the aviation sector.
