Course Description

Overview

Become an ally for those disadvantaged by intersectionality in your community

Ever wondered how the multiple layers of your identity combine to create your unique self?

This course, created in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger and led by DJ, dancer, and activist, Kiddy Smile, offers you the chance to explore intersectionality and how it affects the way we experience life.

You’ll learn from Kiddy Smile’s personal experiences as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community what you, as well as society, can do to address the often negative consequences of intersectionality in our world today.

Explore how intersectionality relates to systems of privilege

Only by acknowledging the interconnected nature of our society’s systems of discrimination, are we able to call them out and fight for equality.

On this course, you’ll discover how intersectionality informs discrimination.

As you identify your own personal intersections and how they make you unique, you’ll consider how they’ve positively or negatively impacted your life as well as the lives of those around you.

Discover how identifiers such as race, gender, wealth, and sexuality intersect

There are a multitude of intersecting factors that contribute to disadvantage.

You’ll explore how social, economic, political, and gender differences impact the discrimination and privilege we experience in life.

Understand the role of community in addressing intersectionality

As individuals, it’s vital for us to consider how our lived experiences may be dramatically different from the lives of those around us.

This course will empower you with the insights and language you need to confidently discuss and address the effect of intersectionality on your community.

You’ll work to build a toolkit of resources for taking action and addressing the consequences of intersectionality, so that you can begin driving positive change for all.

This course is designed for anyone looking to better understand how intersectionality impacts their own life, as well as the lives of those around them.

A DJ, dancer and producer often dubbed “the French Prince of the Ballroom scene,” Kiddy advocates for the LGBTQI+ community, encouraging others to celebrate their intersections along the way.
