Overview
Working in the veterinary sector requires leadership skills. Veterinary professionals who are good leaders are better equipped to care for colleagues, clients and patients. This program, created with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), is designed help veterinary professionals to develop these essential leadership skills.
Through the program you will explore key concepts such as the importance of leadership in the veterinary setting and the art of good leadership and decision-making. You will learn how to be confident, effective and inclusive leader.
Syllabus
Course 1: Edward Jenner Leadership for Veterinary Professionals Part I: Your Leadership Self
-Explore the concept of leadership, why it matters, the types of issues faced by leaders, and why you are already a leader.
Course 2: Edward Jenner Leadership for Veterinary Professionals Part II: Developing Leadership Foundations
-Enhance your understanding of effective leadership models and style and become a more effective leader at work as a veterinarian.

Discover what ‘leadership’ is and why you are already a leader
All veterinary professionals are leaders, it is part of the job. But what is leadership? What makes a great leader? And even through a period of massive upheaval and uncertainty how can vets and veterinary professionals grow as inclusive and effective leaders?
Answer these questions and more with this course that will introduce you to leadership. You will identify, reflect on and practice leadership skills so you are more prepared to lead as well as possible in your day to day work.
This course is for anyone working in the veterinary sector but has been designed with newly practising veterinary professionals in mind. It will be especially helpful to those new to leadership.

Experiment with and develop your leadership style and practice
On this second course in the Edward Jenner Leadership for Veterinary Professionals program, you’ll explore the ways that your leadership impacts others.
You’ll discover key concepts like power in the workplace and learn about leadership models and styles.
You’ll explore inclusivity in the workplace and learn ways that you can be a more inclusive leader.
This course will equip you with the fundamental leadership knowledge you need to grow your leadership skills as a veterinarian, so you are more able to take on the challenges of daily life working in the veterinary sector.
This course is designed for anyone working in the veterinary sector but has been created with newly practising veterinary professionals in mind.
It will be especially helpful to those who are new to leadership in the workplace.
