Overview
What is cuneiform? In which area it is widespread and for which languages has been employed? How did it come to its decipherment? As it was born and has developed cuneiform writing and what are the principles that govern its operation? Wedges-Lab explores the cuneiform writing and its operating arrangements, with particular reference to its use to express the Akkadian language. Students will be guided to read and decipher simple signs from cuneiform and will be introduced at the same time to investigate the relationships that exist between material support and written text, in the context of the production of the Mesopotamian scribal schools.
