Offered By: University of Modena and Reggio Emilia via EduOpen
Course Description
Overview
The purpose of this course is to present and promote new experiences of education and learning in the classrooms and multicultural groups. In particular, the course aims to illustrate a methodology for facilitating communication with and between children. The course introduces a coordination dialogical method in school classes, which can be applied to any group of children. The dialogical method is combined with expertise in the treatment of visual materials (in particular photographs). The course allows you to analyze and evaluate the results of both a methodology of facilitation and use of visual material, both forms of participation and of the children's narratives. More specifically, the course aims to answer the following questions: How can we promote and encourage the participation of children in the classroom, recognizing the value and importance of their contributions? How to use visual materials (in particular photographs) to produce and collect the memories of children and their families? How to promote and coordinate the dialogue in the classroom to help children to describe, compare, and share the collected materials and their stories? The course is designed for teachers, educators, facilitators and all those professional and volunteer figures who work with children in educational settings.
