Course Description

Overview

Are you involved in the development and execution of technical projects and eager to know what it takes to fund a project successfully? Would you like to be more in touch with the latest developments in project finance and able to use these to your advantage? To benefit from a range of novel project contracts and methods of financing, professionals working on infrastructure and industrial projects need to have a good understanding of how project financing works and how project investors and lenders think and assess the risks of a project.

This program will provide you with the fundamental knowledge and necessary tools to create the optimum financing structure for your project and enhance its potential to attract funding.

To achieve successful project financing, this program will first help you develop the overall project management skills needed to successfully manage engineering and technical projects. With a focus on the early project phases, which are crucial to achieve project success, you will learn about the role of the project manager and the team, the project process and the project context. At the end of this part of the program you will have created your own project execution plan.

The second part of the program will deal with the financing aspects of project management in more detail. Using case studies to illustrate the topics, as well as assignments so you can get first-hand experience in what it takes to put together a financeable project.

Are you a (project) engineer with a technical background but lack – or wish to enhance – your management skills? Are you eager to improve project performance and optimize your project outcomes?

This business and management course will equip you with the necessary project management skills to successfully manage projects, concentrating on three key areas:

    • The project manager and the team
    • The project process
    • The project context

The course focuses on the early project phases, drawing practical insights and real-world examples from a diverse array of technical projects spanning multiple sectors and industries, including, but not limited to, infrastructure and construction.

At the end of this course, you will have created your own project execution plan, either independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

    New cases and activities

The demands of project management in engineering are continually evolving. In response to this, several enhancements have been made to this course, including new examples that draw from today’s dynamic project management landscape. These resources, which reflect the current challenges faced by professionals in the field, offer invaluable insights, combining theory with practical application. By integrating these updates, we ensure that engineers are equipped with the latest tools and knowledge to excel in their project management roles and tasks.

    Our project management courses

This course is part of our Engineering Project Management series. Each program consists of two courses – this introductory course, plus one of these specializations: Project Financing or Mastering Project Complexity.

Are you involved in the development and execution of technical projects and eager to know what it takes to fund a project successfully? Would you like to stay abreast of the latest trends and strategies in project finance and be able to use these to your advantage?

This course will provide you with the fundamental knowledge and necessary tools to create the ideal financing structure for your project and enhance its potential for attracting funding.

You will also gain essential insights into the mindset of project investors and lenders, which is particularly useful to those who work on infrastructure or industrial projects and need to have a good understanding of how project financing works as well as how risk assessments are carried out.

Keeping up to date with trends in project financing is also important. For instance, since projects are increasingly set up through cooperation between different groups of stakeholders, such as Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), this ultimately leads to a range of novel contracts and financing methods.

    Our hands-on approach

Rooted in both theoretical rigor and practical applicability, our approach uses case studies to illustrate key concepts and provides real-world assignments so you will gain first-hand experience in what it takes to put together a financeable project.

At the end of the course, you will know what is required to achieve successful project financing and will have created a financial model for your own project.

    New cases and activities

The demands of project management in engineering are continually evolving. In response to this, several enhancements have been made to this course, and new examples are presented not only to enhance your project management skills but also to help you secure essential funding.

    Our project management courses

This course is part of our Engineering Project Management series. It is an ideal course for learners who want to build on the basic knowledge gained in the course Project Management of Engineering Projects: Preparing for Success and be able to deal with the financing aspects in considerably more detail. This series also offers a complementary course on Project Management: Mastering Complexity.
