In this case study, you'll act as an Azure consultant with your team for AppSculpt, a company that specializes in creating recommendation apps. They wish to move their book recommendation app to Azure, and you'll assist them in this process.

Through hands-on exercises, you'll estimate costs using the pricing calculator, set up and configure the right resources, and ensure that your Azure environment is properly secured and monitored.

Syllabus

  • Getting to know the case study
    • The company AppSculpt wishes to set up its book recommendation app ReadRadar in Azure and they've hired you as their Azure consultant. You'll kick off this project by learning how the ReadRadar book recommendation app works, and how it will work in Azure. You'll then prepare your Azure environment and calculate the budget needed to set up the necessary services and resources.
  • Setting up the necessary resources
    • It's time to set up the project's first resources! You'll upload a text file with book data to Azure using Blob Storage for further use by the recommendation model underpinning ReadRadar. For the data science team, you'll set up a data science virtual machine to help them develop and test the recommendation engine.
  • Optimizing security and performance
    • You've set up the necessary resources and configured them correctly. Now, you can focus on optimizing security and performance using the management and monitoring tools available in Azure.
