Patternmaking Classics: The Wrap Dress
Offered By: Craftsy
Course Description
Overview
Description
Unlock the power of your bodice and sleeve slopers! Complete a patternmaking project from start to finish alongside fashion industry insider Lynn Strobel! You’ll learn about the patternmaking process, drafting order and how to put all the pieces together for a custom wrap dress pattern. Start by reviewing essential dart manipulation techniques, then move on to drafting! Learn to draft an asymmetrical bodice front, lower a neckline, create a curved princess line and compensate for stretch in bias seams. Create pencil, A-line and circle skirt patterns with facings and interfacings for comfort and sophisticated structure. Choose from a plain short sleeve, a puffed cap sleeve, a flowing butterfly sleeve, a rolled cuff or a sleeveless variation. Complete each piece with the right facing for the job, and draft a one-piece convertible collar or a sassy ruffled collar. Then, finish your custom pattern with Lynn’s step-by-step guidance. Learn how to make a dress pattern from beginning to end!
