Course Description
Overview
This course seeks to stimulate creative thinking and learning for you as a working professionals while offering practical guidance for improved decision-making in both common and novel ethical business situations.
You will look at navigating ethics as related to issues associated with the governance of medical organizations, end-of-life care, and an array of especially difficult issues in the healthcare environment.
We hope this course will help you re-examine your own thoughts and ideas about ethics and reflect on whether the course content has enlarged your sense of moral suasion.
Syllabus
- Module 1 — Ethics and Governance
- This module introduces you to the course and is then focused on ethical issues associated with the governance of medical organizations, especially at the board level.
- Module 2 — End of Life Care
- This module is focused on the ethical issues of end-of-life care. It discusses the medical, social, economic, and humanitarian issues that arise. It also touches on the ethics and legality of physician assisted suicide and euthanasia.
- Module 3 — Special Ethical Challenges Part 1
- This module presents a series of vignettes involving difficult issues in the healthcare environment.
- Module 4 — Special Ethical Challenges Part 2
- This module presents a series of vignettes involving difficult issues in the healthcare environment.
