Course Description
Overview
This course is geared toward operating a multi-use, public facility, similar to Madison Square Garden (NYC), GIANTS Stadium (Sydney, AUS) and Utilita Arena Birmingham (UK). Multi-event arenas play host to sporting events, concerts, conferences, et al. and must be managed ethically and efficiently in order to be profitable and satisfy the millions of stakeholders served. This course will introduce topics such as contracts, sponsorship, security, insurance, public relations, broadcasting, media, fan engagement, and others that guide informed facility and management decision making.
Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to define a multi-event facility enterprise; describe several advantages of in-house and for-hire management operations; discuss how to use data to make informed management decisions; and list several key event management critical functions.
Syllabus
- Multi-Event Facility Enterprises
- This module covers multiple uses of public assembly facilities, including the importance of ownership and management considerations plus community impacts.
- Contracts & Operations
- The content of this module includes legal considerations when contracting tenants of multi-event facilities. It also covers facility operating models, insurance policies, and risk.
- Fan Engagement Data & Gaming
- This week, students will be exposed to how management uses data to drive performance and revenue.
- Event Management Segments
- This module explores the segments within event management.
- Career Outlook and Self-Reflection
- This module provides insight into a job search in the sports industry.
