This course provides a thorough understanding of what DevOps is and the cultural changes that are required to adopt it. Addressed in this course are the tools used in a DevOps environment, including source control systems, containers, artifact registries, and the CI/CD pipeline, as well as how to start using DevOps with the three primary CSPs.
Syllabus
- The Culture of DevOps
- This course explains why culture changes are essential for DevOps and how this flexible mentality help an organization realize their DevOps goals.
- What is DevOps
- This course explores how DevOps evolved and the future direction for DevOps, Also covered will be the importance of DevOps and how Intel works with customers in the development community.
- Source Control Systems
- This course defines what a source control system is and why it is needed. Git and GitHub repositories will be addressed and some of the main Git concepts will be examined.
- Containers, Artifact Registries and Scan/Test Tools
- This course demonstrates why containers are important for DevOps, describe what are artifact registries, and also explain what scanning and testing tools are, including some of their use cases.
- Infrastructure as Code
- This course explains what Infrastructure as Code (IaC) means, what the benefits are, and why it is used. Discussed will be some IaC tools, infrastructure scripts and security considerations.
- The CI/CD Pipeline
- This course discusses the benefits of the CI/CD pipeline and provides a demo of how to build a simplified CI/CD pipeline in GCP. Also included are the identification of the different stages of CI/CD pipeline and the tools best suited to build this out.
- Practical Applications of DevOps
- This course focuses on how DevOps enables faster innovation and responsiveness to business needs, such as improved software quality and more frequent software releases. Also addressed are the hardware and software ecosystem required to support DevOps and explore the value of leveraging Intel hardware features and cloud tools.
- Application of DevOps in the AWS Cloud Platform
- This course will illustrate how to use Amazon tools for developers and will identify multiple developer tools through AWS.
- Application of DevOps for the Azure Cloud Platform
- This course will focus on Azure's developer tools, such as Azure Developer CLI. This course provides knowledge of these tools to manage the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), model applications using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Azure, and deploy applications using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies.
- Application of DevOps for the Google Cloud Platform
- This course demonstrates how to use the developer tools from Google Cloud Platform to manage the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle, model an application using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Google Build, and deploy applications using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies.
