How should we work on class design and improvement?
This is a program to learn specifically how to design and improve classes through the creation of a 6-minute microteaching class.
The program is designed for current and prospective teachers from elementary to higher education, and can be completed in three weeks. The program is designed to help learners understand the significance of the “6-minute microteaching class,” and practice the necessary knowledge and theory based on the “ADDIE Model,” a concept for creating such classes, through a variety of work (hands-on experience). Then, through creating a graphic class design and a class design sheet, learners design and conduct a microteaching class. Afterwards, learners will review the microteaching class and work on improvement.
In addition to watching videos and completing worksheets (individual work), the course also emphasizes the expansion and deepening of learning through interaction with other learners in the learning community, such as discussion forums.
Syllabus
- WEEK 1
In WEEK 1, participants will get an overview of the entire program, learn the significance of the “6-minute microteaching class” that forms the core of the program, and learn about the significance and structure of the tools used in the activity (feedback sheet and class design sheet). In addition, participants will understand the overall picture of the ADDIE model, which is necessary for class creation, and will build the necessary foundation for future learning. In particular, participants will experience attending and giving feedback on others' “6-minute microteaching classes” and examine the content of a class that meet the limited time of 6 minutes through the activity of “deciding on a title”.
- WEEK 2
In WEEK 2, participants will understand the knowledge and concepts necessary to practice Analysis and Design of the ADDIE model, and acquire the skills necessary to design and improve microteaching classes through specific practices based on these concepts.
- WEEK 3
In WEEK 3, following the Analysis and Design phases of the ADDIE model, participants will actually conduct a microteaching class based on their understanding of the necessary knowledge and concepts related to Development and Implementation. Then, through a review meeting after the microteaching class, participants will learn how to conduct evaluation which is useful for class improvement.
