Course Description
Overview
Explore the social justice issues prevalent in the Criminal Justice System; including use of force, disparity in sentencing, civil unrest, mass incarceration, decriminalization of mental illness and drug users, systemic racism, prejudicial biases and other systemic issues within the criminal justice system. Explanation of the impact and effect of stereotypes and prejudice within the system and how it affects its decision makers. Examination of social stratification and perspectives based on race, ethnicity, social and economic class, gender and gender identity as they relate to crime and justice in America. Identification of cultural traditions that may affect the rehabilitation process of the correctional client. Transfer: CSU
