Course Description

Overview

Survey of engineering graphics and the design process as applied to engineering and related fields. Emphasis is on use of 3-D Feature-Based, Parametric Solid modeling as the foundation of that process. Coursework is done using SolidWorks software. Additional topics include: interpreting ANSI standard engineering drawings, visualization, sketching, geometric relations, assembly modeling, and creating ANSI standard part and assembly drawings. Special emphasis is placed on understanding and developing sound Modeling Strategies/Plans based on 'best practices.' Students also are introduced to 3D-Printing technology and produce physical models from their own CAD models. Transfer: CSU; UC
