Course Description
Overview
Prerequisite: MATH-542 or higher level math course, or eligibility for MATH-25 as determined by the Chaffey College placement process. Advisory: Completion of MATH-25. This course is for students completing a certificate program or associate degree in a health science such as Vocational Nursing, Radiological Technology, and Associate Degree Nursing. The course is an introduction to the principles of chemistry including inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Topics covered include measurements, properties and classification of matter, atomic structure, bonding and nomenclature, chemical equations, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions, acids, bases and pH, equilibrium, nuclear chemistry, and organic and biochemical structure and reactions. Laboratory work will provide hands-on activities to teach laboratory skills and support the concepts presented in the lecture. This course is not intended for science majors.
