Overview
This course explores the history of Indigenous peoples in North America from pre-contact to the early years of the United States, focusing on the impacts of colonialism. Students will learn about the diverse cultures, societies, and experiences of Indigenous peoples, as well as the ways in which they resisted and adapted to colonial pressures. The course aims to deepen students' understanding of the complexities of colonial encounters and their legacies in the present day. The teaching method includes lectures, readings, discussions, and assignments. This course is intended for students interested in history, Indigenous studies, colonialism, and the intersections of power and identity.
