Course Description
Overview
Introduces the origins, subject matter, and methods of women's studies. Examines major social, cultural, economic, and political forces affecting the lives of diverse groups of women using feminist theories. Analyzes a range of issues affecting women, including sexuality, health, family, work, poverty, law, criminal justice, politics, and the broad spectrum of gender-based violence. Assesses how gender intersects with race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, dis/ability, age, religion, and other hierarchical dimensions of human experience. May be offered in a distance-learning format.
