Course Description
Overview
Teaches essential information and skills regarding health, safety, and nutrition in early care and education settings, including relevant laws, regulations, standards, policies, procedures, and current best practices. Emphasizes collaboration with families, health professionals, and agencies. Includes prevention strategies, nutrition, and meal planning for various ages and planning educational experiences integrated into daily routines designed to teach children positive health, safety, and nutrition. Appropriate for teachers, childcare providers, parents, kinship guardians, foster families, and others who care for young children. May be offered in Spanish or in a bilingual format. May be offered in a distance-learning format. Corequisite: For sections taught in Spanish or in a bilingual format: concurrent enrollment in an appropriate ESL course required. C-ID: ECE 220
