Syllabus
Course 1: Foundations of Management
- Get a brief overview of business processes and outcomes while reviewing business terms that will be used throughout this programme and your career.
Course 2: Understanding Accounting: The Language of Business
- Financial statements are the most important source of information about a firm’s performance and financial position to investors and other external stakeholders. Accounting provides such important information and is called the language of business. Planning, controlling and reporting in business uses accounting, and hence understanding business requires understanding of accounting.
Course 3: Financial Management
- This course would serve as the gateway to the important world of financial managemen and focuses on value creation through financing, payout and working capital decisions. The course is designed to show how managers can make better capital structure decision and design payout policy in the presence of market imperfections, incentives and information problems by examining the interaction between financing and investment decisions and their close interdependence in the real world.
Course 4: Managing Business Processes & Operations
- The importance of operations and supply chain management in ensuring sustainable competitive advantage for organizations has made it a key strategic function in many modern-day organizations. This course provides a process-oriented framework for end-to-end management of activities that ensure effective customer service. It will take an interdisciplinary approach involving aspects of marketing, logistics, and operations management, and as such necessitates a comprehensive and integrated evaluation of the supply network’s operating processes.
Course 5: Managing People and Performance
- This course focuses on understanding human behavior in organizations with a focus on individuals, groups, and their interactions. It outlines various aspects related to employee behaviours and outcomes within an organization. Problems related to human behavior are complex and managers need to be able to reflect on and analyze these problems from various angles. Various conceptual lenses would be explored for this purpose.
Course 6: Marketing for Competitive Advantage
- Marketing takes the view of a business from the customers’ view point, and attempts to create and deliver value to the buyers while making sure that the businesses too are able to capture economic value. This course will focus on setting up processes for understanding, creating and communicating value to customers, firm and other stakeholders.
Course 7: Strategy and Sustainability
- This is an integrative course that systematically introduces various concepts relating to strategy formulation and implementation. It encompasses various analytical tools, models, and frameworks for diagnosing situations, handling business imbroglios, and making strategic decisions. Proper planning and implementation of strategies at various stages of a business, starting from deciding to establish a business, determine success or failure. With the growing focus on sustainability, this course would also explore the latest trends and frameworks to integrate a sustainability lens in strategic decision making.
