Course objectives
In this course, you will learn to:
- Examine and predict challenges with traffic flow, transitive routing, and latency in response to updates and changes to single and multi Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) network design.
- Examine and predict challenges with traffic flow, transitive routing, and latency when bridging AWS and private AWS networking infrastructures.
- Infer how design decisions and operational changes impact operational excellence and cost optimization.

Prerequisites
We recommend that learners have:
- A basic understanding of business networking, including routing technology, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, and network security, and a cursory understanding of Amazon VPC
- 2 years of networking experience
- 2–5 years of AWS experience

- Understanding of protocol standards
- Familiarity with the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model
- Familiarity with network access control lists (network ACLs)
- Understanding of switching protocols
