Course Description

Overview

You can use tags to differentiate resources to set up backup, monitoring, and reporting, as well as other accelerate actions.

Each tag is a simple label consisting of a customer-defined key and an optional value that can make it easier to manage search for, and filter resources by purpose, owner, environment, or other criteria.


This course provides an overview of AMS Accelerate Resource Tagger and shows you how to interact with other tagging solutions using AWS CloudFormation and services like Terraform.

Course outline

Lesson 1: Introduction

  • Introduce a customer challenge with unauthorized access to a resource that has tags and easily identify the point of contact to address the issue.
  • Explain what tags are and how to use them.
  • Introduce the AMS Accelerate Resource Tagger and configuration profiles.

Lesson 2: Add a Monitoring Tag to All EC2 instances

  • How to add a monitoring tag to EC2 instances
  • How to deploy a new configuration profile
  • How to verify that tags have been applied to resources

Lesson 3: Add Application-Specific Tags

  • How to use AND and OR filters while tagging resources

Lesson 4: Add Backup Tags to EC2 Instances

  • How to add a backup tag to EC2 instances
  • How to exclude specific resources from being tagged

Lesson 5: Working with Other Tagging Solutions

  • How to interact with other tagging solutions
