AWS CustomerCast - Disaster Recovery
Offered By: Amazon Web Services via AWS Skill Builder
Course Description
Overview
Disaster recovery is a solution for regaining access to your applications, files, and folders, after events like a natural disaster, security event, or other business disruptions. In this two-course curriculum, you will learn how information backup and, disaster recovery are important aspects of business continuity – i.e., the ability to maintain essential functions during and after an outage has occurred, and reestablish full function to the organization as quickly and smoothly as possible.
Research shows that companies typically assess their ability to recover data and applications after an outage event has already occurred. IDC estimates that up to half of all organizations would be unlikely to survive if hit by a disaster–such as technical and infrastructure failure, human error, security event, or natural disaster that rendered their data centers unusable. This is because fewer than half (48.4%) of applications are covered by a disaster recovery plan.
Organizations have not protected their environments with traditional (non-cloud) disaster recovery solutions for a variety of business and technical reasons that are exacerbated by cost and risk. This course explores how replacing dedicated backup data centers with cloud options removes the need for customers to hold expensive IT infrastructure and real estate, and allows IT departments to move to a consumption-based model for disaster recovery. Additionally, you’ll learn CloudEndure Disaster Recovery, an AWS product that continuously replicates machines (including operating system, system state configuration, databases, applications, and files) into a low-cost staging area, in conjunction with cloud backup storage can help regain access and functionality to your applications and data, after events like a natural disaster, security event, or other business disruptions.
