Explore the legal challenges posed by new AI technologies with top experts
From self-driving cars to generative AI such as ChatGPT, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) has greatly increased in recent years. AI is making us question the way we think about society itself – and poses crucial legal, regulatory, ethical, and human rights challenges for lawyers and citizens alike.
On this four-week course, you’ll gain insights into AI, its purposes, and how it can be subject to legal regulations.
You’ll cover crucial topics such as compliance, privacy, governance, and AI bias. After completing this introductory course, you can further expand your knowledge by enrolling in the second course of the series, ‘AI for Lawyers.’
Unpack algorithmic bias and human rights
You’ll develop an understanding of the different types of algorithmic bias that can be found in AI and the issues this presents.
You’ll also explore how AI and human rights interlink as you learn about the human rights law. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to discuss the ethics involved in AI implementation.
Understand the importance of regulating AI
Next, you’ll unpack how and why we need to regulate AI as you discover the regulating technologies and algorithms that can help you do this.
You’ll also explore the implications of AI and social manipulation, such as in elections and institutions, and discover how this can be prevented.
Explore AI for lawyers
Finally, you’ll examine the role of AI in the legal field, including its impact on the practice of law.
Building upon your understanding of AI ethics, you’ll explore the ethical considerations specific to AI in the judiciary.
By the end of the course, guided by industry experts, you’ll possess a solid foundation for effectively working with AI as a legal professional.
This course is aimed at lawyers, legal educators, regulators, and anyone interested in legal and policy issues regarding the development and application of artificial intelligence.
