Course Description

Overview

In this course, you will learn and explore about 5G networking and discover how 5G has evolved from its predecessors 4G and 3G. You will learn about new 5G radio, 5G spectrum sharing and end-to-end 5G network architecture. The course has been designed to provide you better understanding of 5G core service requirements including enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Mass Connectivity, and Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communications using various use cases.

Syllabus

This course consists of an orientation module and seven content modules. A learner is estimated to spend around 4-6 hours per week on each module.

Module 1: Introduction to 5G
Introduction to 5G including knowing about what 5G is, the evolution of 5G, key drivers of 5G and example use cases of 5G for various industrial and business applications.

Module 2: 5G Radio Access Technology
Introduction to 5G Radio Access Technology which includes understanding basics of new 5G radio such as MIMO and beamforming, 5G radio spectrum sharing, and the 5G architecture.

Module 3: 5G for Ultra-Reliable and Ultra-Low Latency Communication (URLLC)
Introduction to 5G for ultra-reliable and ultra-low latency communication including understanding technical requirements of ultra-reliability and ultra-low latency, understanding 5G architecture for URLLC communication, and industry use case/cases on 5G for URLLC.

Module 4: 5G for Mass Connectivity
Introduction to 5G for mass connectivity including understanding mass connectivity requirements for billions of sensors and IoT devices, 5G architecture for machine type communication and mass connectivity, and industry use cases on 5G for mass connectivity.

Module 5: 5G for Enhanced Mobile Broadband
Introduction to 5G for enhanced mobile broadband including understanding enhanced mobile broadband requirements, 5G architecture for machine type communication and mass connectivity, and industry use cases on 5G for

Module 6: How 5G and 6G Will Transform Businesses by 2035
Understand future roadmap of 5G and 6G and explore future business opportunities.
